What if I give up rights and the publisher does nothing?
No author should be trapped by an inactive publisher. MediSelf Press publishing agreements should include clear performance expectations. If MediSelf Press does not publish, promote, maintain availability, respond to commercial opportunities, or otherwise perform the agreed publisher responsibilities, the author shall have a defined path to cure the issue or regain rights.
No honest publisher can guarantee sales. MediSelf Press can commit to doing the work it agreed to do.
How does MediSelf Press use AI?
MediSelf Press books are written by authors. AI and other digital tools — including spellcheck, grammar tools, transcription, research organization, and editing support — may be used to streamline the editing and production process.
These tools do not replace the author’s voice, judgment, real experience, or final approval. MediSelf Press will not use AI to impersonate an author, invent real experience, or turn private author materials into public content without author approval.
Does the Author Launch Package give MediSelf Press rights to my idea?
No. The Author Launch Package is a private creative-development engagement. It does not grant MediSelf Press, PatientStories.ai, or Kevin McMahon ownership or usage rights in the author’s story, voice, name, likeness, brand, transcript, unpublished ideas, book concept, or future work. Any future publishing, research, commercial, promotional, or derivative use requires a separate written agreement.
What does MediSelf Press get during the Author Launch Package?
Only limited permission to use shared materials and AI-generated call transcripts privately to prepare the author’s concept package. No audio or video recording is required. The package is designed to help the author see the book opportunity clearly before making a publishing decision.
Do I have to publish with MediSelf Press after the Author Launch Package?
No. The Author Launch Package is a bounded first step. The author can continue, pause, revise, or walk away with the concept package.
MediSelf Press plans to work with only four to six new authors per year, so the process is intentionally selective. The Author Launch Package helps both sides evaluate voice, fit, reader value, commercial path, and whether a larger publishing relationship makes sense.
Does the Author Launch Package guarantee publication?
No. The Author Launch Package is a development sprint, not a publishing agreement. MediSelf Press is selective and plans to work with only four to six new authors per year.
For selected authors, a separate publishing agreement may follow. That agreement would define rights, responsibilities, revenue share, performance expectations, author protections, and what MediSelf Press is committing to operate.
Can I self-publish instead?
Yes. Many capable authors can upload a manuscript themselves. The question is whether the author wants to carry the full commercial publishing system alone: positioning, editing, design, production, sales pages, reader registration, promotion, launch planning, pricing, fulfillment pathways, bulk requests, updates, and long-tail follow-up.
Why would I work with a publisher if I already have an audience?
An author’s audience, credibility, and relationships are valuable. MediSelf Press does not expect the author to become the sales department. The publisher’s job is to turn that trust into professional publishing assets, launch pathways, reader registration, direct-sales opportunities, cross-title promotion, and long-term revenue options.
How does MediSelf Press help make the project bigger than a book?
MediSelf Press looks for the product system around the book: ebook, paperback, direct sales, bundles, companion guides, reader updates, workshops, speaking topics, bulk purchases, future editions, and related titles. Not every project uses every path, but every serious project should be evaluated as more than a single file uploaded to a store.
How will the book be promoted?
Promotion starts before the manuscript is finished. MediSelf Press helps identify audience lanes, content themes, author posts that already resonate, launch-list opportunities, partner pathways, reader prompts, sales-page language, email sequences, and post-launch follow-up.
Can MediSelf Press amplify my social media posts?
Yes, with the author’s approval. Original posts can be treated as market evidence and campaign material. A strong post may become a quote card, newsletter segment, reader prompt, launch email, short video idea, partner pitch, or paid promotion test while preserving the author’s voice and rights.
How does reader registration work?
Books can invite readers to register their copy through a short link or QR code for companion resources, updates, and reader materials related to the title. This is especially important when a reader buys through a marketplace that does not share buyer contact information with the publisher.
Will every reader get promoted every MediSelf Press title?
No. Cross-title promotion should be relevant and permission-based. MediSelf Press is building a serious-health catalog where related titles can support one another through segmented updates, in-book discovery, bundles, and reader registration, without blasting every reader about every book.
What operational work does MediSelf Press handle?
MediSelf Press can manage the work around the book: bulk purchase inquiries, POD and fulfillment decisions, direct-sales routing, pricing and bundle structures, review-copy requests, reader support, contact routing, and follow-up. Every unmanaged inquiry is either lost revenue or stolen author time.
Does MediSelf Press guarantee sales?
No. No honest publisher can guarantee sales. MediSelf Press can commit to a professional publishing system: clear positioning, strong production, commercial planning, promotion assets, reader registration, relevant outreach, pricing strategy, operational support, and ongoing learning from the market.
What makes MediSelf Press credible?
MediSelf Press has sold more than 100,000 print and ebook copies of serious health education titles, including $30 paperbacks and $9.95 ebooks. That experience came from building the whole publishing and digital operations system around health education, not merely uploading files.
