Founder and publisher · health innovator
Kevin L. McMahon is founder and publisher of MediSelf Press and publisher of Sugar Surfing. His publishing work began in 2013, when he managed the strategy, communications, content development, and online community surrounding Stephen W. Ponder’s effort to understand early CGM and share his experience with others.
Since 2015, McMahon has built and operated MediSelf Press’s publishing, ecommerce, fulfillment, and customer-support systems.
Before and alongside publishing, McMahon pioneered connected diabetes care, developing one of the earliest real-time, wireless, algorithm-driven diabetes intervention platforms. The system automatically moved glucose information from a person’s device to a remote platform that could identify patterns, generate alerts, deliver education, and support timely care-team action.
He later led patient-centered digital, Phase IV, and real-world programs at Ultragenyx and founded PatientStories.ai, continuing a career devoted to turning lived experience and complex information into practical knowledge people can use.

By August 2014, the Stephen Ponder Facebook page managed by McMahon ranked fourth in the United States among pages categorized as Health/Medical/Pharmaceuticals—well ahead of Medtronic Diabetes and Dexcom. That direct engagement helped shape the book that followed.
